It is only possible to have a second pet when the owner has an excess of time. Simply put, you can take full care of one pet, and you still have time for one more. Why is it important? If there is no free time, you simply will not have the opportunity to make friends pets, believe me, your participation will be needed. The only case when cats will build a relationship themselves is possible if you take two kittens at once, and they grow together.

The issue of the financial side is no less important. Can you fully maintain two animals? And if one of them gets sick and will require additional spending? Do not be guided by the “feed somehow principle”. You cannot be sure that your cat will not develop an allergy or other chronic disorder. Cats cannot be fed from the table; they will have to buy meat or food.

If the two conditions above confuse you, give up the prospect of having a second pet. Refuse, even if you think your cat is bored. The second ward is not a toy, but the same full-fledged member of the family as the first.

It should be understood that cats do not belong to animals that need to have a flock. In nature, not many cat species live in prides, and this fact is explained not by the desires of animals, but by the principle of survival. Domestic cats need a company of the owner, they rarely accept other animals with enthusiasm and open arms. Besides, domestic cats are jealous and territorial; they are annoyed when there is another pet in the house with a different smell. Conclusion: if you can communicate with a cat in sufficient quantity, do not have a second pet for the sake of entertaining the first.

Last thing. Do not start a second cat, if you allow the normal to give the animal to other people or to a shelter. Yes, the situations are different, sometimes pets have to be handed over to relatives or even strangers, but counting on this option in advance ... “if it doesn’t work out, I’ll just give it away, throw it away, take it to the shelter” - very, very wrong!

Preliminary preparation

How often the owners complain that the two cats do not get along in the house, but when discussing the issue in detail, it turns out that the animals have reasons, and weighty ones. You will probably be able to reconcile pets if you are prudent. In having two cats there are pros and cons, and already behind them are individual nuances. The first and most important of them is territorial affiliation. Each cat should have its own place, bowl, toilet and a portion of attention. Let’s take a look in more detail. It is advisable to do all of the following before you bring a second cat to the house. If the animal appeared in the house unexpectedly, try to make the recommended changes as soon as possible.

To plan a place you need ingenuity. You need so divide the space in the house so that pets do not collide in the first days of residence. The best option is to settle the cats in different rooms, if this is not possible, make sure that the bowls, beds, claws and trays were not next to each other. When one cat eats, the other should not watch it.

The second pet should not sleep in bed with the owner, however, it is better to refrain from sleeping together with the first pet. Insist that your pets were sleeping on their sunbeds. On the first night, it is reasonable to separate the cats, that is, put sun loungers in different rooms. At the same time, it is very important not to infringe on a pet who has lived with you longer. Its lounger can not be moved only if you do not do this in advance, until the appearance of a new cat.

Important! If you are faced with aggression, you notice that the pets hiss, one attacks the other, for the safety of the second cat, you need to close it in the carrying. It is important not to isolate the cat, which is the mistress, but it is not worth encouraging her attacks.

As experience shows, pets who are not used to each other fight, are at odds when it comes to food. The second pet needs to be fed from a new bowl. It is advisable that the bowls differ in colors and shape, so your first cat will be sure that it does not infringe. Before feeding, let the first cat sniff the new bowl and the place you prepared for the new pet. Do not feed the first cat in place of the second and do not move the "location" until the animals adapt to each other.

How to arrange the bowls? There are several options:

  • If the first cat ate on the floor, its bowl can be transferred to the windowsill. So the old-timer will be sure that he is more important and still hosts on his territory. This option is not suitable if the cat is actively aggression, because it will attack the newcomer from above, and this is a serious claim, with the subtext: "leave or die."
  • The bowl of the second cat can be hidden in the space outside the door. A good option for both pets, as they will not see each other. Being behind the "wall", the second cat will feel more comfortable.
  • Feed cats in different rooms.

Put food in bowls that stand on the table and place them in front of cats at the same time. Both pets will be busy, and at this time they are not up to competition. In the early days, it is wise to feed the animals strictly on schedule, so that they manage to get hungry and they do not have a desire to distract from the bowl. Watch the cats until they finish the meal and be sure to remove the bowls so that one pet does not go to examine another's dining place. Do not worry, at such an emergency pace you need to live only a few days.

The tray is a holy place. Every cat should have its own toilet.. According to the recommendations of zoopsychologists, the house should also have a spare tray. Simply put, if you have two cats, then there should be three trays. On the day when a new cat appears in the house, the tray of the first pet does not need to be cleaned, that is, you should have two trays with clean and not quite clean filler. Why? The new cat will not go into the tray with someone else's smell and will immediately understand where her toilet is - fresh and not stained. If the newcomer faces two fresh trays and, by mistake or bewilderment, does not go his own way ... there will be unreasonable jealousy on the part of the guard. What is this fraught with? Puddles and piles in the corners or in very prominent places, in protest, cats do not do that.

It is possible that over time, when cats make friends, they will begin to walk in the same tray or separate toilets for large and small businesses. This can continue for quite some time until one of the pets experiences stress or resentment. Being in a bad mood, the cat may suddenly lose its temper to share the sanctuary with another animal, and in this case, you need a spare "seat" - a third, clean tray.

In other nuances you need to navigate intuitively. Remember all changes should concern only the beginner. Your first pet should be protected as much as possible from the stress associated with replenishing the family. At the same time, it is important not to follow his lead; he will be jealous and your task is to calm, not to regret.

SOCIAL BEHAVIOR OF CATS

Cats have long been considered as asocial creatures, the image of "a cat that walks on its own" is disclosed in the story of Rudyard Kipling. It was believed that cats are found only for mating, outside the breeding season they were considered as single animals.

When groups of cats were discovered, they were considered to be clusters of independent individuals, like animals around a watering hole. However, scientific studies of relationships in a feline population have shown that cats are in fact social animals and that there are close relationships within the group. Typically, feline groups consist primarily of related females. Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and daughters live together in a common area, providing protection for kittens within the group due to their physical presence, joint care and provision of common antibodies.

Males often find themselves outside the group if it already has one adult cat that mates with most females on its territory, while the remaining males decisively drive out of the group.

Consider the dependence of hostility reactions in the behavior of cats on the structure of the population

Although cats are social animals, sociality is a relatively recent evolutionary gain in their behavior. In the wild, the size of the group is limited by the amount of resources available, so there is no competition within the group. Hostility to strangers allows you to protect resources and, therefore, can be considered as highly adaptive behavior.

Contacts with strangers are minimal, communication is aimed at maintaining a distance between individuals. In order not to let anyone else in, olfactory, voice and visual communication tools are used, but in the case of too close proximity of other people, aggression against them can be significant.

Within a social group, cases of manifestation of obvious physical aggression are rare and insignificant, aggressive signals are used to avoid a real physical collision if possible.

Survival for cats is a "personal matter" of each animal, and self-preservation is a priority for them. In the feline community there is no need for cooperation for better access to vital resources, which means that a hierarchical structure is also not needed.

One of the consequences of this is that the concept of changing social roles is alien to feline culture, therefore behavioral strategies aimed at establishing dominance do not occur when cats interact with each other and when cats and humans interact. The extinction of the conflict at the last moment, so characteristic of dogs, is impossible in the cat community.

Aggression of cats in relation to each other always leads to any damage if the threshold of physical confrontation is overcome. The low importance of social relations for survival weakens the instinct of restoration of relations in cats after a conflict, and after the act of aggression it is usually expected that the defeated will leave the territory.

CAT INDEPENDENCE

The weak dependence on social contacts is evidenced by the ability of cats to survive alone, and all cats are able, by necessity or by their own choice, to exist in a social vacuum. This does not mean that all cats will shun society of other cats or humans, but they can accept him or leave, and most cats can easily adapt to solitary existence. However, among cats there is an individual variability in the level of need for social contacts.

Cats with a moderate need for relationships live mostly outside the social group, while cats with a higher need for social interactions are part of social groups (see figure). Such cats with a high level of social needs are probably better suited for keeping at home, but despite the fact that there are social relations in the cat world, it is important for people to realize that they have a different format than the relations of such completely social creatures as humans or dogs.

To establish how many social groups are in the house, the owner needs to write the names of cats on a piece of paper and draw arrows connecting cats that rub against each other and lick each other. If there are no arrows connecting any cats, then they can be considered to belong to different social groups. For example, out of five cats in the house, three belong to one social group, while the other two form a separate group.

The social relations of cats are characterized by low intensity, but high frequency of interactions, so cats are often approached by their owners and other cats and send voice signals in their direction.

Social relations between people, on the contrary, are characterized by high intensity and low frequency of interactions, and therefore the owner’s expectations regarding the cat's communication with him or with other cats in his house can be unrealistic.

One of the possible results of such a misunderstanding between species is that the owner ascribes to the cat his needs for communicating with his own kind and starts several cats. In a situation where the cats in question are related (related) to each other, social interactions can occur in a favorable way, but if social compatibility is ill-conceived, the final situation can be extremely stressful for animals.

MAINTENANCE OF SOCIAL RELATIONS IN CATS

The most important thing in a house where several cats are kept is their social compatibility. Cats can coexist under one roof, which does not necessarily mean that they belong to the same social group. The most ethologically healthy groups are siblings (siblings), but even in this case, if cats are forced to divide the territory, certain conditions are strictly necessary for them, which include:

    • free and direct access to important resources whenever they need it,
    • the opportunity to retire
    • the ability to avoid potential stress.

These basic requirements of cats in many houses are not met, as a result of which in houses where several cats are kept, they are constantly exposed to little stress.

This is manifested in obvious aggression, but there may be less obvious manifestations and problems associated with free movement around the house.

As a result, cats often begin to send natural necessities in the wrong places. In homes where avoidance is a major “symptom” of incompatibility, a lack of social harmony may go unnoticed for a long time. In some cases, stress is not noticed until a health problem occurs, or until behavioral problems become apparent.

CONSEQUENCES OF LIMITED ACCESS TO RESOURCES

Cats from different social groups do not share resources, however, in the house they are expected to have common places for rest, feeding and drinking, even if their social behavior indicates that they consider each other rather than just neighbors than as family members. This can have far-reaching consequences.

One of the scenarios causing the misconception that several cats in the house are doing well is when the cats are ready to be together during feeding. Such proximity is often perceived as a sign that everything is fine in a feline society, but it is important to remember that food is a vital resource, and typical behavior is often suppressed in order to gain access to nutrition. Cats will temporarily stop feuding while they eat, but the relationship between them at other times can become even more tense, and avoidance will become a common way of being.

Some owners will pay attention to the fact that they never see all cats in one room at the same time, except during feeding, and even though, when food is laid out in bowls, all cats come, often some of them are reluctant to stay in room to eat, and they come and go over the next few hours in turn to gain access to food more comfortably.

Once the owner begins to notice that one cat can constantly leave the feeding place when others come there, or back away from the bowl and avoid eye contact while other cats eat.

This behavior is sometimes misunderstood as hierarchical, but cats are not really fully social animals and do not live in hierarchical communities. Instead, they use avoidance to reduce the risk of overt stress, leading to physical confrontation, which in turn can be a threat to their lives.

Even when the cats in the house belong to the same social group and tolerate the neighborhood pretty well, you need to pay attention to the fact that cats are single, and eating is not a joint process for them. This means that even cats that have developed social relationships will prefer to eat separately. It is important to provide a sufficient number of feeding places in the house, which will allow cats to eat, avoiding any kind of eye contact with relatives.

While stress is often ignored when it is necessary to access food, many cats do not consider a bowl of water to be a resource important enough to justify being in close proximity with other cats. The problem is that cats motivation to drink is very low. With their natural diet, water consumption occurs simultaneously with the absorption of food, and the need for additional drinking is negligible.

At home, getting a low-moisture feed can cause problems if drinking is limited.

Cats in natural conditions will beware of sources of water near their prey in order to reduce the risk of absorbing water contaminated with urine, excrement, blood or viscera.

Unfortunately, at home this natural behavior is often overlooked, and bowls of water and food are placed next to each other. This tendency is strengthened if there are several cats in the house, and the owner needs to take care of how to arrange many places for feeding and drinking so that bowls are less disturbing for people living in the house.

It is also worth paying attention to the properties of the drinking tank itself in order to reduce the risk of water pollution. Materials such as metal, glass and ceramics are much better than plastic.

In addition, you need to pay attention to the depth and width of the bowl, and choose one so that the cat can see the surface of the water. The tendency to beware of poorly visible water sources is associated with the instinct of cats to avoid possible troubles and correlates with the observation of many owners that the sound and appearance of flowing water attract cats.

The suggestion that cats from different social groups will use a common tray may lead to problems with getting dirty in the house.

It is important to remember that restricting access to the toilet outside the home can also be related to these problems. The problem of lack of privacy when visiting the toilet can sometimes be solved using a closed tray, but each case should be considered individually.

Using several small trays can lead to an “ambush” and make the cat less reluctant to use the tray.

Therefore, it is necessary to experiment with a cat's toilet until the owner finds an option that will satisfy the needs of all cats in the house. This may be an increase in the number of trays or an increase in the number of places in which they are located, so that cats can use the toilet without being caught by members of another social group.

It is important for the cat to make full use of the space, including its vertical component, this allows you to control stress and plays a significant role in maintaining normal physical activity. If social stress in the house limits the cat’s ability to move around freely, this can lead to a significant decrease in her mobility and an increased risk of obesity.

Providing a place to rest at a sufficient height, along with the possibility of aerobic activity and games for all cats, is an important aspect of the proper arrangement of the house, which contains several cats.

CONCLUSION

Cats are social animals, but their social behavior is very different from that of humans and dogs. In their natural environment, they will live in small groups of related individuals and avoid contact with other cats. It follows that for cats it may not be comfortable living at home, sharing the main territory with non-related individuals.

However, by studying the natural behavior of cats and changing environmental conditions in accordance with it, we can offer ethological solutions and organize life in a house with several cats in such a way as to minimize stress for our four-legged friends.

As the popularity of cats grows, for lovers of these animals there is a temptation to get them more and more. A knowledge of the cat’s behavioral needs and possible stress caused by living in an inappropriate social group is necessary to limit the number of animals at a level that suits the cats themselves. There is no strict rule on the ideal number of cats in a house, as it depends on the social compatibility of individuals and the physical space to properly distribute resources.

If the owner is persistent in his desire to increase the number of cats in the house, it is very important to pay close attention to the first weeks of the cat’s life with the new owner. A newly arrived animal must be provided with sufficient resources to ensure that its appearance does not exert any pressure on the capabilities of the cats already living here. Free access to all vital resources at any time for all animals will increase the possibility of the successful coexistence of several cats under one roof.

Two cats in one house: pros and cons

If you are still in the decision-making phase, first weigh the pros and cons. Let's start with the positives:

p, blockquote 3,0,0,0,0,0 ->

  • Two cats are a “double portion” of purring, petting and rumbling, especially if the pets are affectionate and sociable.
  • If the pets get along, they will be interested and fun together, which will partially free the owners from the need to pay attention and free time to their pets. They will be fine without you.
  • It is interesting, fascinating and funny to watch the communication of two cats: they will communicate in their own special language, play, organize competitions, bask in each other and even sometimes help and support in difficult situations.

p, blockquote 4,0,1,0,0 ->

  • Additional expenses. You will most likely have to purchase two trays, two bowls for food, twice as much feed, toys for each pet and much more. If the financial situation leaves much to be desired, then it is worth considering.
  • Twice as much wool and spoiled things. Wool in the house, subject to the presence of cats in it, is inevitable, unless, of course, you decide to have two sphinxes. You can cope with molting with regular use of special brushes, but this will not help to solve the problem completely.
  • If the cats do not get along, they will fight, and some breeds are aggressive and can cause serious injuries and injuries to rivals.

Can two cats get along in the same territory?

Cats are independent and rather wayward animals, although obedient and affectionate ones are often found among them. They usually are not tied to one territory and a certain place, and yet if the pet lives with you for a long time, then it considers its housing and is confident that it is a full owner. But what will happen if a second occupant appears? Events can develop in different ways.

p, blockquote 5,0,0,0,0 ->

p, blockquote 6.0,0,0,0,0 ->

First of all, it all depends on the breed of cats, and both. There are varieties that are characterized by a difficult character and aggressiveness, as well as zealously protecting the territory that they consider their own. And if one of the pets is just like that, then he can perceive the second as an enemy and simply not let him into the house or show his anger in every possible way. And if both cats are aggressive, then be prepared for constant fights. If animals are peaceful, then they will probably get along and even become best friends.

p, blockquote 7,0,0,0,0 ->

A lot depends on when you got cats. If one lives with you for a long time, then she probably feels herself a full-fledged mistress and because of this she may not accept the second inhabitant. If you have acquired a friend recently, then he can accept a "neighbor." Given the simultaneous “settlement”, the chances of friendship or even neutrality are even greater.

What is the best way to get two cats?

p, blockquote 9,0,0,0,0 ->

How to keep two cats in an apartment or house? The ideal option is to take two small kittens and bring them into the house at the same time. In this case, they will immediately begin to contact or even perceive each other as relatives. You can get two adult cats at the same time, but first introduce them, and then run them into housing, and at one point, so that they feel equitable and initially share one house.

p, blockquote 10,0,0,0,0 ->

A much more complicated situation will be in which one cat already lives in your house, and you are going to have a second one. Who to take: a kitten or an adult cat? If your first female favorite, then he may wake up with a maternal instinct in relation to the baby, which will play into your hands and make the animals comfortable, because everyone will be happy: both the kitten, his adoptive mother, and the touching owner.

p, blockquote 11,0,0,0,0 ->

But for cats with paternal feelings, things are often much more complicated, and the “child” can be perceived as a weak adversary and, accordingly, expelled. If the new tenant is an adult, then it all depends on the characters and behavior of both animals.

Acquaintance

If animals have not seen each other before, then they should be introduced gradually, especially if the territory is already captured by one cat and belongs to him (at least he thinks so). At first it is better to leave a distance between animals. But if you see them showing interest in each other, let them get closer. It is better for a beginner to allocate a separate room so that the old-timer does not think that they are encroaching on his possessions. If aggression comes from one, protect him from contacts with the other until both get used to the changes.

p, blockquote 13,0,0,0,0 ->

Tip: if initially a blind door separated the pets, then later you can replace it with a net or a partition so that the animals can make eye contact and get used to each other's smells.

Important content rules

p, blockquote 15,0,0,0,0 ->

In order for both pets to feel comfortable and not cause trouble to the owners, several rules should be observed:

p, blockquote 16,0,0,0,0 ->

  1. Each cat should have its own tray. This is a purely personal accessory that keeps a special smell, so if another animal suddenly encroaches on it, the owner will either perceive it as an attack and show aggression, or will fall into confusion and will cease to relieve need where it is needed. In the end, it is possible that both pets will leave puddles in the wrong places. By the way, litter for the toilet can also be different, because what appeals to one cat may be unacceptable to another, and this is worth considering.
  2. Animals can have different appetites, taste preferences, eating habits and food needs, and this must be taken into account. If pets eat one food from one bowl, this is wonderful, and you can only replenish supplies in a timely manner. Although it is still better to purchase different containers. If the addictions are different, then you will have to divide the food intake area and each pet to allocate separate dishes. Food may also be different: you need to consider the preferences of cats. In addition, if one cat is aggressive and gluttonous, then the second can remain deprived and hungry, and then the owner will have to control the process of eating or feed pets at different times and even in different rooms.
  3. If animals are heterosexual, then they will surely try to satisfy their natural needs. And if the offspring are not part of your plans, take care of “contraception”. One of the animals can be operated on: castrate a cat or sterilize a cat. But it is desirable to deprive both animals of the ability to breed at once. If you have two cats, then they can mark the territory, so their castration is also necessary.
  4. Try to interfere with pets at a minimum, unless, of course, the situation is critical and does not threaten a fight.
  5. The owner should share the affection, love and attention equally between the two cats, so if you pet one, then do not forget about the second, otherwise the deprived will be offended and may begin to take revenge on you and the one you allocated.
  6. At first, you should not leave the newly made neighbors unattended, this is fraught with open conflicts and injuries.

Let the above tips help the owner successfully keep two cats!

First meeting

What to expect from the first meeting of two unfamiliar cats? There are a lot of options, animals can react calmly, or they can mate in a fight. Remember that the first meeting will set the tone for the relationship, so you need to prevent conflict by all means.

First recommendation - do not make common mistakes:

  • Do not push potential rivals with your foreheads - most likely, there will be a fight.
  • Do not palm off the kitten to an adult cat, it will not share your tenderness - most likely, the older cat will set himself the goal of getting rid of the competitor.
  • Do not isolate animals without the possibility of contact, cats have a very sharp sense of smell, they will feel each other - the animals will accumulate stress, worry and still meet. Likely outcome - there will be a fight until the last breath.
  • Do not punish the first cat for a sharp reaction, and if it happened, divide the animals so that they can calm down. If you infringe on the first cat, you yourself will drive it into a state of stress.

Some preparatory activities can be carried out in advance. If you buy a kitten, you need to go to visit the breeder, if you brought the crumbs from the street, we carry out the manipulations to the threshold. So, both cats need to cut their claws, not briefly, most importantly, blunt them and grind them with a nail file.

Prepare in advance:

  • A large, heavy blanket with which you can cover one of the cats if a fight occurs.
  • Spray bottle with water.
  • First Aid Kit.

Next, take a towel, a piece of terry or bikes. We take the first cat, wrap our hand in a cloth and stroke the pet's hair. Without pressure, but with special care, we conduct along the cheeks, in the region of the ears, paws and between the fingers and in the intimate zone. We rub the second cat with the same odorous cut. Next, we return the magic rag to the house and put it on the doorstep so that the first cat can sniff it well.

Do not rush the pet and bring the second pet into the house only after the first cat loses interest in the source of the new smell. By the way, it is better not to remove this rag, but to shift it at the junction of the territories of the first and second cats. If you decide to resettle your pets in different rooms, it is better to put an odorous rag on the threshold, “from the side” of the first cat or stretch it out into the slot under the door.

How to settle a conflict

A new cat needs to be brought into the house in a carrying, not in her arms. We put the carrier on the floor and do not open it. If the first cat didn’t fit, that's okay. Wait 10-15 minutes. Before you open the door, make sure that all the doors are open in the house, but the windows are closed. In the event of a fight, cats will need to retreat, and a new pet may jump out of the window with fright.

They opened the case and slowly walked back a few meters - the moment of truth. Do not try to get a new pet, it should go out by itself. Even if this stage takes an hour, do not interfere, do not call cats, do not make unnecessary movements, your task is to observe. If everything goes fine, you will observe the following:

  • Beginner - carefully leaves the carrier and carefully looks around. Paws are bent, nose is constantly moving, ears are turned.
  • He guarded - occupies a dominant position, turns his ears back, does not take his eyes off the guest, can hiss and growl.
  • Beginner - looks away and behaves on the principle of "but we do not care."
  • He guarded - begins to bypass the newcomer on the side, he can beat himself with his tail on the sides.
  • Novice - moves away in the direction that the guard does not protect.
  • Guarded - continues to closely monitor.
  • Beginner - continues to move away, may turn his back.

If all these stages were successful, you are very lucky! The novice acknowledged his position, guarded him calmly for his possessions, it remains to wait and help the animals adapt. However, things may not work out so well. It is likely that your new pet will not want to recognize himself as a guest.

In a bad scenario, a failure occurs on the second point, the newcomer will meet the old-timer's eyes and both cats will die. Further, you can observe several scenarios, cats can arch their backs, growl, scream, raise their fur on end. A fight is inevitable if the animals began to move along the trajectory of the circle and whip themselves with tails on their sides.

If the cats are mating, sprinkle water in them, if there is no spray gun ... you can pour water on the fighters (severe stress for both). Next, we cover the first cat with a blanket, the second we take it out of the room. It is advisable to protect your hands so that the pet does not scratch you by inertia. We provide assistance to ourselves and animals, if necessary, and introduce a moratorium on pet communication for at least one day.

Important! When you share cats it is important not to infringe the old-timer. If you close the first pet and take pity on the second, the unreasonable anger of the owner of the territory will add to all adversities.

It is according to this algorithm that meetings should take place in the first days of cohabitation. As practice shows, already from the second or third time, the watchman resigned himself to the presence of a beginner. As soon as the cats ceased to conflict during the meeting, they need to start feeding at the same time - this will strengthen the hierarchy and help develop a certain order in the new way of life.

Fight or grind?

Do not confuse fights with hierarchy building. Accept the fact that one of your cats will be alpha. The senior member of the pack can growl at the youngest, hit him with his paw, demonstrate his superiority in every way and this is not a conflict, but a form of communication.

Do not interfere with cat brawls unless they are threatening. When a kitten appears in the house, the older cat takes it almost immediately. You may not know this, because alpha will behave very strictly and aloof. The kitten will pester the cat, annoy her and eventually get a well-deserved slap paw.

Seeing that cats are in conflict, freeze, stare at the aggressor and begin to hiss. Make sounds as close as possible to the hissing of your pets, usually a combination of “kx” and low “y” sounds, without hesitation, growl and even scream like a cat.

What will you achieve? First, you will show who is the main “cat” in this house, and this is important. The second - even if the demonstration of your feline importance seems to the pets unconvincing, they will certainly be surprised by screams. Using surprise and stupor, isolate the new cat. This method should not be used on hybrid breeds, as the cat may not get confused and attack you.

How do we feed our cats

Feed should also be tried according to status, but again not according to our concepts, but according to them. In a large company, one or two can always stay hungry. Often this happens with new or shy cats. In this case, these "friends" must either be fed or fed separately from all.

For example, we have VIPs and plebeians. VIPs include old people (by age), patients and leaders. We eat each of our dishes in the kitchen, and the plebeians get their ration from a large collective bowl in the toilet. Everyone knows their place well, and during feeding they run right there.

Where do our cats sleep

Each pet should have its own house, even from a cardboard box. Your mink for a cat is very important. This is their personal space in which they feel protected. If you have several pets, then you probably watched how each of them sleeps in their place, and some of them are happy to lay on top of each other.

Leaders usually sleep separately, or, in extreme cases, allow someone to lie down next to them. But never will two leaders lie down together. It is also important where exactly the cat house is. We have two boxes installed on the refrigerator. They really like to follow everything from above. These places are never empty. They sleep in them, two or three, and in the cold season, even five.

In winter, our cats have winter houses near the batteries. Or rather, a niche with soft bedding behind the bars covering the radiators was made. There they sleep, five and six at once. The oldest are usually in the middle, and the young are around the edges. But there are also smarties who strive to take places out of rank.

Toilet for our cats

There should also be several trays or places for an everyday toilet. Not all cats want to go to the toilet after another. Therefore, if you can’t wash the tray in time, then you need to put another one, and in different places. Optimally, the number of trays should match the number of your pets. But in reality we have only three trays. One with filler, and two with a grill without filler.

Some people like to go to a tray with a filler, while others like to go to a wire rack. And some learned from each other, to go to the toilet. This is especially good for bobtail, because their hind legs are longer than others.

How do our cats live?

If you cherish furniture or curtains, then make or buy a claw tack for your pets. But never go about those people who advise you to remove the cat's claws. And if such a advice is given to you by a veterinarian, then take away the animal and run away from such a “doctor”.

Toys also need to be given to cats different. Some people like noisy and rustling, while others like soft and fluffy. Hang bows around the ropes around, but watch that they are tightly tied, and so that the cat cannot wrap itself and suffocate.

With a whole gang of cats you have to be especially careful. One of them will surely do something out of the ordinary. Do not leave electrical wires unattended. Be sure to hide them in special plastic boxes. Fortunately, these are sold in hardware stores, of any color, and are not expensive.

You will have to learn how to properly feed and care for cats, study their habits and psychology, learn how to clean their ears, and share their pillow. You must be prepared for any surprises. After all, cats are very curious and shy. But if you earn the trust of your pet, then perhaps they will not only please you, but even treat you.

If you decide to get a lot of cats, then do not listen to anyone. Only those who can sympathize with our smaller brothers have a soul and a huge kind heart.

Sayings about cats

If a person decided to kill a tiger, this is called a sport, and if a tiger decided to kill a person, it is called bloodthirsty.
